Community Fridges

Community Fridges

01 November 2018

We have funded 30 Community Fridges over the past year to help tackle surplus food waste.

Community Fridges allow perishable food that would have been wasted to be shared with local people. We launched one of Britain’s first community fridges in Swadlincote and since then we have funded a further 30 fridges across the UK.

We know that food brings people together, and that’s exactly what Community Fridges do, by encouraging local businesses and residents to share surplus food items.

By funding community fridges we have helped thousands in the UK connect to their communities, access nutritious food, save money and reduce waste.

To see how one of our community fridges work, have a look at this video about our fridge in East Dulwich.

I am honestly so grateful for this local support. I have discovered lots of lovely foods and feel more healthy and 'nutritioned'! I hope one day I can give back to the community and lovely, helpful and amazing staff who have made me feel welcome'
